Johann Strauss

The Exhibition

Johann Strauss

4 December 2024 to 23 June 2025

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Johann Strauss, an exhibition by Theatermuseum in collaboration with Wienbibliothek in Rathaus will present the life and works of this world-famous composer.

Johann Strauss was an exceptional person who might even be described as a superstar. He enthralled his audience with his exceptional performances. Concert tours saw Strauss visit places from Boston (USA) to Pavlovsk (Russia) and throughout Europe.

The exhibition shows the most important original objects from Johann Strauss’s estate. Its crowning glory is the original score for Die Fledermaus, presented together with the set design sketch for the premiere and original costumes from the Theatermuseum collection.

Educational programs for different age groups will be offered and soon be available on this page.
