For music lovers and anyone with an interest in culture

In their joint exhibition Johann Strauss, the Theatermuseum and the Vienna City Library guide visitors through the composer's eventful life. The exhibition sheds light on his strenuous life as well as his relationships with his parents, brothers, three wives and love affairs in Russia.

The exhibition at the Theatermuseum focuses on his artistic production, the dance and concert music that has always been popular all over the world, as well as his music theater works. Original objects from performances and exhibits from his written estate illustrate the theater-historical and political contexts of the time. Experience the magic of the Strauss dynasty
Dance, listen and be amazed

Johann Strauss - The exhibition and the accompanying program allow you to dive into musical history and experience world-famous Viennese stage works, including Strauss' operetta Die Fledermaus. Get carried away by buoyant Strauss sounds, follow Strauss' world tour to Boston and take a look at the original score of Die Fledermaus!

Johann Strauss himself was an open-minded musician: wherever he went, he integrated new ideas into his programs. As part of our accompanying program, you too can experience the melodies of the Waltz King in the mirror of contemporaries from other countries, mixed with the sounds of famous role models such as Mozart or in connection with journeys undertaken by the master himself.
